About Tara
Overview
A paranoid pattern seeker who resents chaos but often ends up creating it anyway.
Her goal is to find something real in the world and have undeniable proof of it. The only problem is that she isn’t even sure what “real” means.
When there seems to be no meaning, she’ll put together her own one with perfectly aligned rocks
and empty sticky notes. Suddenly, her bedroom walls are a string of theories no one else understands.
What is she like?
Messy
She tries to brush her hair, but it somehow always looks like it hasn't been taken care of in weeks. She wears massive t-shirts, an old leather jacket, and some stupid shorts.
Paranoid
Her shapes make her look like you might get stabbed just looking at her. Her hair sticks out everywhere, her nose is sharp, and her clothes make her into a rectangle.
Hostile
She couldn't care less about looking approachable. I mean, she has way more important things to do, such as finding out why a rock looks wrong from one side. Duh.
But for real?
She's scared of the truth.
Anxious.
Missing something.
What's on her mind?
The thought that nothing is safe.
Motifs
Rocks
Round, shiny, or dull—Tara appreciates them all. They have a bit of weight, none of them are the same, and the taste isn't bad.
Sticky notes
She forgets everything unless it's written down. Plus the small papers are easy to hold. Who cares that things get real in text?
Pushpins
The way they rattle inside a box is just so satisfying. Pushpins can be color-coded and big enough to see. Also, they're sharp.
Relationships
With Ezra
Opposing forces that are in a constant state of attempting to impose their own reality.
With Simona
Reluctant allies who cannot stop trying to understand each other, but in different ways.
With Ivy
Two people full of silent tension, somehow less likely to explode when they are put together.
Random facts
Tara owns an old black leather jacket, faded from use. It isn't actually hers, but she wears it anyway. It offers comfort and safety.
You should never give mysterious pills to a mentally unstable person.
The pinboard in Tara's bedroom plays a significant role in the novel's plot.
In the early versions, she had an L-shaped hairpin.
Also, her hair used to be noticeably longer.
Where did her gender go? Because I can't find it.
Fake things feel different, don't they.
